kaguya love is war

Currently a ongoing anime series by A-1 Pictures .Student council president Miyuki Shirogane and vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya appear to be the perfect couple. Kaguya is the daughter of a wealthy conglomerate family, and Miyuki is the top student at the school and well-known across the prefecture. Although they like each other, they are too proud to confess their love as they believe whoever does so first would lose. The story follows their many schemes to make the other one confess.love is war

Kaguya is a intelligent , beautiful and always trying to stay one step ahead of every situation .

Miyuki  is the top student of the school and the president of the Student Council . Always super serious and hard working and trying to figure out ways to respond to the plans of Kaguya who always comes up with these over the top plans to get him to ask her out .

Both characters straight man act are played so much it reminds me every Feminist v Men’s Right Advocate argument online . chika

In a sense both these characters are so obsessed with each other but never willing to admit they love each other so much but don’t concede defeat .

Same way it goes with these groups online . These fights feel almost like a wrestling style of dramatics but so in obsessed with others movements .

Both groups have strong point and negative parts of their culture both in real life and in theory love is war 2

But what makes this show really come to life is the secondary characters Chika the student council secretary a upbeat slightly ditzy with a dark sense of adventure . She brings chaos for main cast. and The Treasurer Yu is a slightly paranoid genius with numbers and a slight romantic .

love is war 3.gif

Making this show one of the best secret gems of the season . Each episode is so good just like with these online fights you just want both sides to admit they want to fuck and get things over with.

My Hero Academia : 2 Heroes

When I first caught this visual extravaganza, I was fortunate enough to view it in the cinema and I must say, lads and lasses, the bigger the screen you can grab, the better! The cinematic fix of Deku, All-Might and our stellar collection of favourites will act less like a caffeine pill and more like a shot of adrenaline direct to your heart! But seeing as what many people will have to enjoy is the Blu-Ray format, what I will posit if you are interested in seeing this film is to get your crew of Heroaka fans together and geek out with the energy of it being a rave! And, I will add, bring someone who needs to feel that magic; of what it means to be a hero.

my_hero_academia_-_two_heroes_poster
All that cheese nicely sliced, let’s put that aside for a second and get into the plot, if you happen to live under a rock, or come from regular television land, which I put in the same boat anyway. Our Young Izuku Midoriya after going through the trials for his Hero Licence and learning of exactly where his path will take him, oh yeah he gets invited to a gigantic Expo by All-Might himself, an expo which is hosted by the #1 Hero’s best lifelong friend, a savant of a scientist David Shield, whose FIIINE and brilliant daughter Melissa also happens to be attending, hell she’s the one who greets the twosome when they
arrive. The whole event comes under threat, however, when a mercenary outfit holds the entirety of the attendees hostage, but luckily enough Deku, Melissa and some fellow students of UA Academy who are at the event too for different reasons avoid capture, and so it falls to them to restore order, and save one of the titular pairs, of Two Heroes of the former generation.my_hero_academia_the_movie_key_visual

And well, I wish I could just unload all the spoilers for you here, but instead I wish to bring attention to the importance of this title, and its underlying concept. Two. Heroes. You may not think much of the idea, and some of you may even know its significance already, but I want to stress the importance of this theme, this Positive Duality, that’s throughout the film. And this is why I also said to bring someone to your featuring of the film who needs to feel that magic, because I think a lot of people take for granted the importance of this theme.
You might be somewhat of a lonely individual, or you might be popular all around, or somewhere inbetween socially, for, dear listeners, I do not know your circumstances, though I hope they’re positive. Still, for everyone, there is at least one great bond in their life. Someone who understands them, backs
them up, and goes alongside them on the path of life, sometimes knocking into them and sometimes encouragingly elbowing them in the ribs to make sure that the direction they go is a good one. This can come in the form of a friend, or family; someone whose got an investment in your welfare, and progress
through life. And when you’re conscious of that bond, each of you shines like beacons to the other,
because life is a little bit more lit up with having them there for you. What was before an uncertain,
hostile or indifferent world is then illuminated, and whatever is ahead, you can face it together.
Now if that sounds like romantic love to you, I must clarify, what that is and what I’m talking about is
pretty similar in description, but cease your gay shit for I’m the one talking here, and the Rotten Girls who
like to imply some sort of shipping between Deku and All-Might have likely already been at this whole
match-up… Well. Stop. Just stop. Get help. That’s statutory. All you shippers give me the shivers over
shit like this, and as a proud soldier in the Waifu War I must say your lifestyle, rather than your art style,
disgusts me! To quote Swan from The Warriors, I don’t like the way you live!
But that’s neither here nor there. Live and let live, like.
The film – yes, that’s what we were talking about – it has a fair shake at giving us a look at the sheer scale
this franchise will eventually have, in terms of the Quirks of the characters, and in terms of just how big
an impact it will continue to have for the medium of Anime and weebish or geeky entertainment in
general. The thing is, guys, is that I think a lot of people are going to be looking for that gratification of a
great story, more and more of the folks all across the world. And for an anime film based off of a
mainstream title, it ticks all the boxes for getting you invested. Its got fights, its got relationships, its got
commentaries upon the broader idea of friends and just what goes into being one for those people in your
life. And its got some Waifus, and Husbandos, the most important factor of all! The ending is a bit of a
stretch, but you don’t pull a muscle watching it, trust me.
Ultimately, however, what I got out of this film, is that example of someone whose trying to do their

best to say yes to life, even if they’re not given by fate the advantages or qualities of others that makes all
of those other people special or more functional in the world they live in. Hell of a thing to draw from
some animation now, but I hope those of you who can appreciate the good in this life know why I took
that impression from this story, and even figure out who I’m talking about in particular!
Its worth the watch, and the film night. So tell your friends, lord it over your enemies who are disturbed
by interests that they don’t understand, and convert your younger siblings who are open to this kind of
message! And keep your little devil smiling!

Mini Review-Attack of the Super Monsters.

Turns out dinosaurs have been living in the center of the earth for millions of years. When the leader of the dinosaurs the Evil Tyrannous declares war on the surface world. A team is crated to battle these ferocious creatures. The Team is called the Gemini Force. Ok tell me if this sounds like a a really bad toy commercial. Well back int he early 80s a vhs company purchased the rights for a poorly made Saturday Morning Cartoon from Japan and decided to put their own spin on the franchise. What was the result? A Dinosaur sized fail and great comedy. As the show progresses . The dub company decided to insert their dialogue including rabid dogs looking like their ex wife to Cam Clark ( famous for TMNT and Akira) voicing a talking T. Rex dinosaur.

supermonsters7

To put things of the mixture of bad animation, puppet work and rubber dinosaur suits fighting thunderbird jets doesn’t even make much sense.

Attack of the Super Monsters

But with all these mistakes it creates a great comedy as you enjoy the cringiest thing ever created.

State of the World- For Geeks that are struggling

As I write this the world is this crazy brink where everyone is consumed with the idea that they themselves know all the answers in this world. Especially in Fandom, conventions this only gets worse for most people. The lines of who to consider your friends and which you don’t get more hazy. So this article is to help others and myself articulate the problems most people around my age or at any age to tell others know your not alone. Your not the crazy one here its just people have become afraid of admitting they don’t know the answers.

1 Polarizing Nature of the World
Somewhere between the Occupy Movement to GamerGate. Fandom and people in general have been polarized and just got to the point where they will not accept other opinions and viewpoints. This also happens from Social Groups, to conventions to the workplace. It can hard to create balance in our own lives. Whether its overly empathy or being consumed with frustration and anger. From Trump and Brexit to The New Liberal Left to Feminism we like to play the Black and white narrative viewpoint. It can be worrying when you see your friends becoming addicted to this over the top hatred of the other side without understanding each other.

relife-2

My advice

I know its frustrating but sometimes we need to stay moderate on issues because if we continue to lead down this path we will become so disconnected and become jaded by our own beliefs, interests and activism.

2. Finding our own place with our own personality
This is a hard one for everyone. A lot of people like to latch on to some sense of identity. “I am Feminist, I’m Poly or Pan whatever as a label to create a sense of community. This is very evident at conventions nowadays where people come to lose themselves for a weekend at a time in a false identity or recreating their high school days of trying to be popular or accepted. As we get older some of us become comfortable becoming different versions of ourselves. Others not so much especially when you yourself have gone through many drastic changes over time to adapt to the Real world. There’s the real you , the you portray to your friends, the one where you try to attract a partner or the business version of yourself.
It can be hard at times to juggle these roles. Measuring confidence and cocky. Balancing the true self with the the identity you want to promote or attract.

perfect_blue_screenshot_2

My advice
Its all a experiment really. While you find a balance with some personas such as our workplace persona or our convention persona.

3. Disconnection

As we get older we our social circles begin to smaller and smaller. Some of our friends we made in high school start to change sometimes for the better but other times for the worse. Some can be overly obsessed with interests and regress back to teenagers not . At times we can find it difficult to make new social circles as we get older. You can and most likely go through all sorts of online advice sites trying to help you try to make new friends and social groups. Finding the answers to
this is hard work and mostly frustrating.

My advice
I still struggle with this. Being a geek from 2 separate cultures . I struggle to balance my own personas with a constant feeling of disconnection. I am on the Spectrum and constantly feel like I have hit a brick wall on my own personal development. I have thought a good few times that maybe the things I enjoy are the things holding me back . Anime, videogames, tabletop rpgs, horror movies. In the end though I have figured out one thing.
Life doesn’t matter if you give up any of this.
All you can is struggle to strive forward. Really focus first on things that help you become independent as individual. Employment and personal mental health. Then you can have the funds to fuel your interests and get you out there.

4. Real World

From personal health issues , funds, trying to find employment to finding love
These can weigh you down and create a internal pressure.

chaos10144

My advice
This is a big one I try to balance my life as best as I can really. I know at times I will project a optimistic objective non-biased viewpoints and listen to both sides of a conversation on many topics some many of you agree with others not so much.
But with the external pressures in the world and my own needs to find new social groups , grow as a adult and as a person and find a partner myself.
I tend to have meltdowns occasionally, Moment of releasing the pressures of the outside world despite how much I change, evolve I know the fears of Statistics especially people like me . Numbers created way before topics of Nationalism, Social Justice became household terms. I know women have to deal with unnecessary standards of beauty, rape culture and dealing with either overzealous friends or pua tactics and men have have to deal with the same things but be constantly have to protect the way we think or act.

The only I can really say  is you are not alone. This writer also feels constantly frustrated with dealing losing chances to make friends or partners because of my disconnect or scumbags puas , or simply overly polarized people to make yourself feel alone.

Would you like a do over – Re:Life

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to redo your life or even just certain parts of it . I know myself I certainly do. What I missed out especially in my teenage to early 20s . Things we miss due to what we thought was the best decision or out of fear of failure.

relife-chapter-102

Sometimes life is all about second chances especially in cases like this anime.

Re:life is based on a web comic of the same name created by Yayoiso.

The story revolves around a 27 young man who has recently  made unemployed after quitting his  claiming that it’s because it “does not fit his highest potential”. As a result of this action, he finds it difficult to gain a full-time job at another company and instead he works as a part-timer at a mini market. One day, a mysterious man named Ryo offers him a new employment prospect but first he needs to become a tester for ReLife: a scientific experiment to make him look like he’s 17 again and attend high school for one year. After the year ends they will forget about anything he said or did .

relife-2.png

There he will be put to the test to see if he help others around him using the experience he’s learned over the years to make sure others don’t repeat the same mistakes that he made.

relife_13_16

This series really spoke levels to me. The way the series deals with serious topics from pressure to have sex to bullying. All topics are dealt with in a mature fashion that you rarely see shows deal with the issues this way. The humor is on point and doesn’t distract you from the concept of the show. The biggest thing about the show was the twist of why characters are involved with the program.

Overall I give this series 5/5 youth pills

Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta? (And you thought there is never a girl online?

Back in early 2000’s you always hear stories of guys falling in love with people in MMOs during the heyday of World of Warcraft. As friends we have always made jokes of these stories that the female avatar was always played by a stereotypical overweight troll who agreed to go out to get some rare items or just for lol.

5f1e9982-f112-4a40-9b00-177e869b5239

This is what I originally thought this series was going to be about . But this series based on the light novel of the same name written by Shibai Kineko that was released in the Spring this year is about a young teenager Hideki Nishimura who not only finds out his team online are real life girls but are also classmates from his school.

1462380731_1_4_f977cc0e1b3a1a300547e197d5f66ff4

Sounds very Haremeque so far but Hideki has become disillusioned about his life after asking a female player in the game only to discover that the player was a guy.

images

I think all of us can identify going on a first date or talking with a potential interest only to discover they weren’t what you were expecting.

tumblr_o5agkkourz1ul1i17o1_1280

The series is broken down to 2 arcs . The first is the introduction arc where the players meet up in person and the founding of their school gaming club and the Romance arc where Hideki comes to grips with falling in love with character’s wife who in the real world is delusional female fellow student with severe anxiety problems.

High points of the show : Animation is light and bubbly which makes the show an enjoyable watch with plenty of humorous moments.

images

Low points : The goal of the show was to help the love interest realize she isn’t married but nothing is resolved here besides the main character falling for her. I wished that she was able see reality for what is was . The main character asked her out , or spoke from the heart it had no emotional effect on her because she already believed they were together.

Final Thoughts : Lacks any emotional impact but still enjoyable 5/10 Boobies

SAO vs .hack//Sign Which did it better?

Sword Art Online was a massive hit . Making fans of both guys and girls . But as the genre of Main character getting stuck in a MMO gets more popular a lot of people tend to forget the original series that started it all off. Today we shall compare 2 shows to see which one did it better.

1b28a23efab4ba799ee5c5d9fd889718

SAO

Kirito is a hikimori obsessed with games. One day he purchases the latest immersive MMO . When the users logged in a grand announcement was made they will not be able to log off as they now trapped inside the game and if you die here you will die in Real Life.

bg1

Art style

Very Modern Anime using a lot of action scenes to keep viewers excited throughout the show.

1269018045555712327

Story.

While it keeps you watching up until episode 14 in the first season afterwards it jumps the shark . I can’t say without ruining it the sudden change takes a very creepy turn involving his sister and a villain that likes sniffing hair.

Music

Composed by the great Yuki Kajiura who has worked on countless anime, video games and films does a fantastic job of captivating its audience and because of this helped it become one of the new powerhouse shows at the time.

Character Development

Kirito was a Hikimori then he wasn’t in the game. He was recluse until he wasn’t and throughout the whole series every girl wants to jump on his bone.

Overall

Good Action Series with some comedy but without a few things that make it special it wouldn’t become that big of a hit.

Dot Hack // Signs

macha

Set in a futuristic 2005 Tsukasa a young boy who gets trapped within the MMO called the World. He doesn’t mention a lot of his irl life and people are suspicious of a user who never logs out and has massive destructive power.

Tsukasadd.jpg

Art style

Using a lot of water coloring gives this series a surreal look that one forgets that they are in a game. They also use a lot symbolic imagery for dream sequences which really adds to the mystery of the show.

dothack_8wallpaper

Music

Composed by the great Yuki Kajiura once again is there anything that she can’t do giving this series a fantastic and eerie soundtrack.

Character Development

What makes this series unique is the reasons people give for why they joined the World . Whether it’s for stress relief , escapism or being able to do things they couldn’t in the real world which gives a character some real development as the story progresses . The age of the people through story also vary from adult to young child. Romances also seem slow built up but seem natural on how people connect.

Overall

Great series and while it is missing the traditional action scenes for a fantasy genre it makes up for with a great mystery and suspense on what is really behind the scenes in this MMO

How Can anime fan be controversial?

I just finished the 5 day course from a professional niche anime reviewer Lauren Orsini who has written articles for the Daily Dot , Kotaku, and Forbes magazine. The course was a simple premise how to fine tune your reviewer skills to increase your readership.

Wallflower4_large

Our first lesson which was very vague on the topic   Be Controversial

But there is a simple problem with this message . They never tell you how to write those stories.

Anime in itself can be beautiful strange and thought-provoking bringing new ideas and imagery . But it can also be horrific terrifying and outputting.

This is what I enjoy about the genre . It does push boundaries to another level it gets us to react to cosplay to create . It can shock us, entertain us or sometimes even turn us on.

In a world where everyone has become so hot-blooded and our daily lives have become stressful anime has become one of things that has helped many of us deal with the stress

So my answer to How to be controversial? Be the Encouraging Fan to a Point

Yes , For every fandom there is a limit . So I use 2 of the most extreme examples.

Harem Genre

maxresdefault

I love Harem anime because personally I take on a lot of stress and anxiety it feels good to turn off your brain and simply enjoy something so silly.

Now there is a distinct problem with this fandom.

Hug pillows at conventions . Most conventions are for all ages yet this is something that always creeps me out. Why sell them at all? It really boggles my mind.

a934ef6ba172faa6692fb43f079aa839

Yoai

Just like guys, girls enjoy their smut as much as the next person whether its Antique Bakery , Sex Pistols or some bizarre cases my Sexual harassment. While most of this is mostly harmless there has been some extreme behaviors that really shouldn’t in conventions. First is the hug pillows. I have my complaints on this subject but the same applies to girls . Your Senpai will notice you in a wrong way purchasing this.

But the other is the Infamous Yoai Paddle. The Yoai paddle is a wooden paddle with as a symbol of the Yoai Fandom. It became a little out of control when fans would hit their friends both male and female with the hard end on their asses.

2jsfi

Almost short of either sexual harassment or something to lead up to a Yoai Fight Club(pictures yoai fans fighting over who’s the best shipping)

I wonder what will be the next Yoai fandom craze ? Yoai teasers , Yoai swords, Yoai whips and chains? Maybe the Yoai fandom needs to relax a little bit now a days and learn to adapt to things that are in conventions. You can use Yoai blow up Guitars something that may not lead to violence.

Dragon Half but All Comedy

In our preparation for interviewing the awesome Jessica Calvello. We are taking a look back at Dragon Half created by Production IG but back then known as Victor Entertainment back in 1993.

hqdefault

The plot is simple . Mink a daughter of the one greatest Swordmasters in the kingdom and a Red Dragon. She is hopelessly in love with “Dick” Saucer a famous Dragon slayer and pop singer. To make her wishes come true she with the help of her friends search for the human human potion to make her 100% human. Meanwhile a dopey king and his selfish daughter plot to get revenge on her parents by kidnapping her to get revenge for some minor reason.

be6a9bcab5819f4f454bddd2e93bd2d61465040186_full

While the story is simple it doesn’t take a lot to make this a great show. Using a great comedic timing and plenty of 4th wall breaking moments including a moment where characters watch the first episode of the show to recall a plot point .

If I was going to compare the show to anything I would compare with the likes of Slayers and Crayon Shin Chan with its use of comedy and Fantasy elements.

The only problem is I really wanted more only comprising of 2 episode OAV could done a lot more by having additional episodes.

If you enjoy some good slapstick comedy why not check it out Dragon Half
